NEW HOPE CEMETERY
BLOOMBURG, CASS COUNTY, TEXAS
Originally known as Sherman Cemetery or New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
LOCATION: 2 mile South of Bloomburg Tx. on FM 3129, Turn left on to CR 4919 and go approx. .4 mile. The cemetery will be on the left side of the road and North of the New Hope Baptist Church.
This cemetery is known to be predominantly white.
Cass County Cemeteries Book (1976) stated that the land in this area was owned by the Shermans which was inherited from Mrs. Sherman’s grandfather, Joseph Endsley. This community had its beginning about the year 1869. The first school was called Old Dempsey. When Old Dempsey was discontinued, the school was called Sherman until it consolidated with Bloomburg. Church was held once a month in the school house. New Hope Church was organized in 1921. This community now has a black top road that intersects FM249 at the north & south sides of the community.
This is a fairly new cemetery.
